TEEN BIBLE QUIZZING
2007-2008

Author: Gary Barker, Tampa First Quiz Director
On behalf of Doug and Pam Roy and the quiz coaches of Central Florida, welcome to another life changing year of teen bible quizzing! The exciting news is that regardless of your past experiences, this year could be your greatest year in quizzing, but the choice is up to you. Are you ready for the challenge? Great, then on that note let me begin with the end in mind. At the end of each district quiz year is the culmination of all your hard work, the finals. By decision of our directors and coaches the following will determine our "A" and "B" teams for TNT at TNU.
This year will consist of six quizzes, which will determine our top 16 individual quizzers for the finals in February 2007 by averaging your top 5 quiz days, allowing each to drop their lowest day from the totals. The top 16 will then participate in a round robin style quiz to determine the top 10 quizzers. These ten quizzers will have the opportunity to represent our district at TNT @ TNU*. Congratulations!
Please note: Any quizzer who desires the opportunity to represent our district at TNU may only compete in the novice division for the first 2 quizzes and must thereafter participate in the expert division. The following information is very important to understand so please read it carefully. It is the desire of our directors, coaches and some of your quizzing peers to provide the most rewarding quizzing experience possible. In keeping with that directive we will observe the following concerning the district teams representing us at TNU. As many of you may know, once a quizzer attends TNU as an "A team" quizzer they may never participate as a "B team" quizzer. However, a quizzer may participate on a "B team" for 2 years before being required to participate on an "A team." The purpose of the finals will be to determine the top 10 quizzers, but not position them on the "A" and "B" teams. After the finals, the 10 quizzers will be placed to allow for the greatest opportunities for you the quizzer, to compete at a regional level for the maximum number of years. The top 5 individuals will have their expenses for TNT @ TNU paid for, but may not necessarily quiz on the "A" team, again allowing for the greatest opportunity to you the quizzer. In a case where the number of current quizzers who have previously quizzed at the regional level on an "A team" exceeds 5, only the top 5 in the finals will have the opportunity to return again. The others will be bumped and the remaining quizzers will complete the top 10. This allows for the maximum potential to you the quizzer for competition at the regional level.
Should you have any questions, please direct them to Pam Roy. We trust this letter of explanation helps you stay focused in keeping the end in mind.
We look forward to another great year in teen Bible quizzing. We encourage you to do your best- He did.
*Our Southeast Region is re-evaluating quizzing for TNT at TNU. Therefore, we may need to change our district guidelines. Our regional board is scheduled to make a decision by December. Please refer to this page until then.
